The sad news of my friend and sponsor Mick Maplesden passing away

It was with great sadness that I learnt of Mick's passing away on April 21st aged 66 years. Mick had been a good friend and my greatest supporter throughout my golfing career, from when I first met (and partnered) him in a inter-club match for Sedlescombe against Peacehaven in 1998.

From that day on we became firm friends and he went out of his way to help me throughout my amateur career and into my professional career for which I will always be eternally grateful to both him and Doreen.

We enjoyed many happy times playing golf together, be it in the rain at home or the sunshine of his favourite Spanish courses. Mick regularly traveled to watch me play in both amateur and professional events, where his enthusiasm and positive attitude always rubbed off on me, particularly when things were not going so great.

I count myself very fortunate to have known Mick and will remember him with great fondness.
